The Benefit!

The Family Funeral Cover is a non-compulsory option that is again available to all Members of the Scheme for a limited period ending 30 September 2022.

It forms part of the Scheme’s benefit offerings to all its Members.

The purpose of this cover is to assist families with funeral benefits when the member, his or her legal spouse or any of his or her eligible children should pass away.

In such an event, the following funeral benefits will become payable:

Immediate Family Members Only
Lives Covered Benefit Amount
Member R40 000.00
Spouse R40 000.00
Child aged 14 to 21 years R40 000.00
Child aged 6 to 13 years R20 000.00
Stillborn to child aged 5 years R10 000.00

Take note that a lump sum is paid in the event of the death of a member, his or her spouse or any of the main member’s eligible children to cover the cost associated with a funeral.

An unlimited number of children of a member will enjoy the cover, but only 1 spouse will be covered in the event of death.

The cover cannot be extended to extended family members.

Membership. Who can join?

This cover is now, but unfortunately for a limited time only available to all Members of the Scheme. Members have again been provided with a once-off opportunity (ending 30 September 2022) to take-up the “Family Funeral Cover” with the Scheme. As from 1 October 2022 the option will again only be available to NEW Members joining the Scheme.

How much will the monthly premium be?

  • A premium of R67,64 per month is payable.
  • The premium will be deducted directly from a members monthly salary.
  • The premiums are guaranteed until 30 June 2023 and will premiums thereafter be revised annually on the scheme’s anniversary date of 1 July.

Application process

Members must complete the Family Funeral Application and Nomination Form and return it to the Scheme through one of the following channels:

  • Submit it to the departmental/regional HR Support Officer
  • Submit it at One-Stop Services at Bothongo Plaza East.
  • E-mail it directly to the Scheme’s administrator at info@tglscheme.co.za

Forms

The Family Funeral Application and Nomination Form is normally provided to new members at the induction sessions arranged by the City of Tshwane but forms are also available on the scheme’s website, from your HR Support Officer or One-Stop Services. Forms can also be requested from the Scheme’s administrator.
