The Scheme was established as an association of members on 1 September 1959.

Object of the Scheme

The object of the Scheme is to provide, benefits at death, disability and other life contingencies to persons who qualify for participation in the Scheme in terms of the provisions of the rules of the Scheme as amended from time to time.

Purpose of the Scheme

The purpose of the Scheme is to provide a way of helping your family cope financially at critical times, such as your death or your becoming permanently disabled. It is intended to provide financial assistance to your loved ones when they can no longer rely on your monthly salary to pay for outstanding debt, school fees, a housing loan or other basic everyday needs and expenses.

Membership of the Scheme is reserved for permanently employed staff of the City of Tshwane, and it is also compulsory for them to take up membership. Membership automatically terminates 60 days after termination of service with the City of Tshwane.

The Scheme only covers the main member, a person who is permanently employed by the City of Tshwane. Cover is not extended to include expenses for family members who die or suffer from a disability.
